TRIBUTE PAID TO PROF. JAYA SHANKAR
Prof. Jayasankar (77),ideologue of the Teluagana movement and former vice chancellor of Kakatiya University,died on Tuesday,21st June,2011. He was a bachelor. His death is a setback to the Telgana Rashtra Samithi(TRS), as he had been its guiding force in channeling the aspirations of its cadres, particularly youth,for creation of Telangana.
Professor Jayashankar played a keyrole in the TRS' negotiations with the center on December 9,2009, which led to the announcement by union Home Minister P.Chidambaram that the Government of India would begin the process of creating a separate state. Professor Jayashankar was actively associated with the Telangana movement for the best part of his active life spanning five decades.
Born on August6,1934, Jayashankar completed M.A Economics and obtained ph D from Osmania University.He began his career as a teacher at CKM College. He was member of the National Commission for enterprises in the unorganized sector in 2004-2006.
