  Kasaragod was famous from Arab travelers ,who came to Kerala in 9th and 14 th centuries AD had visited Kasaragod. Bakel fort,which is great historical and archaeological important place. Bakal Fort situated as the seashore of Pallikara village is an important place of tourists. It lies 12 kms south of Kasaragod town. Bakal is derived from the word Belikulam, meaning big palace. The term Belikulam got corrupted as Bekulam and later Bakal. Kasaragod is the land of seven languages and several cultures. the place of harmonious co existence of Hindu,Muslim and Christian religions. Bakal Fprt and Bakal Beach is internationally famous places
     Kasaragod is also known as the land of Gods, Fort, Rivers, Hills and lengthy beaches. Adoor Temple for ancient Siva temple belonged to have been founded by Arjuna. Anandashramam & Nityanandasaramam.these are two famous Ashrams in Kasaragod. Bala Catholic church is one of the ancient parishes of the Diocese of Mangalore.It is situated in. Kasaragod district.The mother tongue of the catholic in Konkani.
