HIROSHIMA DAY OBSERVED
IN KOTTARAKARA

August 06, 2012: The 67th Hiroshima Day 2012 was observed at
Kottarakara Kurakar Center under the aegis of Kerala Kavyakala Sahithy and
Kurakar Cultural Association. The programme was marked by observing of
two-minute silence to show respect to the thousands of Hiroshima bombing
victims and reading out of Peace Declaration by Prof. John Kurakar, President of
Kerala KavyaKala Sahithy .. Speaking at the occasion as the President of the
Association said the bombing at Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan during the
World War II was so destructive that it takes long time till now to recover the
destruction. The event was also marked
by distribution of prizes for Children's Peace Drawing Competition .Hundreds of
students from various Schools in Kottarakara march for peace and a nuclear-free
world on the occasion of Hiroshima Day. The Marthoma Girls High School Students
carried banners, graphically depicting the horror of the atom bomb. They were
wearing Gandhi-caps with slogans like” No More Hiroshima’ and save Mother
Earth.
