PIGEON SMUGGLE DRUGS FROM IRAQ TO KUWAIT

മയക്കുമരുന്ന് കടത്തുന്ന പ്രാവുകള്‍ പിടിയില്‍

A pigeon has been caught with a back pack full of drugs, Metro reported on Thursday. Officials apprehended the bird as it was trying to fly into Kuwait from Iraq. Pigeons have been sued to smuggle drugs before, including in 2016 when one of the birds was sent into a prison in Costa Rica.

Kuwaiti customs seized 178 pills wrapped around a homing pigeon.The department’s employees tracked a homing pigeon that was coming from Iraq and finally caught it above a building near the customs’ department, Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Rai reported.Homing pigeons were used in the past to carry messages as messenger pigeons and they crossed a distance of approximately 100 miles.At first they only delivered messages but after training, man taught them how to deliver messages back and forth more than once a day.പ്രാവുകളെകൊണ്ട് ഇങ്ങനെയൊക്കെ ചെയ്യാന് കഴിയുമെന്ന് നമ്മള് ചിന്തിക്കുക പോലുമില്ല. ആദ്യകാലങ്ങളില് സന്ദേശമയക്കാന് പ്രാവിനെയാണ് ആശ്രയിച്ചിരുന്നത്. എന്നാല് അതിശയിപ്പിക്കുന്ന വിധത്തിലുള്ള സംഭവങ്ങളാണ് പ്രാവിനെക്കുറിച്ച് കേള്കുപ് ന്നത്. മയക്കുമരുന്ന് ശരീരത്തില് പതിപ്പിച്ച പ്രാവുകളെ തേടി നടക്കുകയാണ് സുരക്ഷാ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥര്.കുവൈറ്റിലും ഇറാനിലുമാണ് ഇത്തരത്തില് മയക്കുമരുന്ന് ശരീരത്തില് പതിപ്പിച്ച നിരവധി പ്രാവുകളെപിടികൂടിയത്. കഴിഞ്ഞ ഒരു മാസത്തിനിടെ മയക്കുമരുന്ന് വഹിച്ചെത്തിയ 4 പ്രാവുകളെയാണ് കസ്റ്റംസ് പിടികൂടിയത്. 150 ഗ്രാം ഭാരം വരുന്ന മരുന്ന് കവറിലാക്കി പക്ഷിയുടെ പുറത്ത് കെട്ടിവെച്ച നിലയിലാണ് കണ്ടെത്തിയത്.
