KERALA’S CRUCIAL STRAY DOG PROBLEMS

KERALA’S
STRAY DOG PROBLEMS

A 48 year old man was mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs at pulluvila near PoovarThe incident bore striking similarities to other senior women at the same place last year. The residents of Pulluvila demand to the state government for permanent solution to the dog menace.
·        In Kerala stray dog’s problem is common. There is no easy solution for it. The stray dogs population became a threat to normal life. The leader of the opposition in the Kerala Assembly said that the issue should be viewed seriously.
India’s especially in Kerala cities encourages stray dogs population. Open garbage, stray dogs are scavengers. Where garbage kept cleaned regularly, stray dogs cannot survive on streets. The people have died due to dog bite in Kerala. Children were unable to go to school due to this menace. The stray dogs are a public health catastrophe. An estimated 20,000 people die each year from rabies infections in India. The increasing population of stray dogs in Kerala can be linked to the ugly culture of disposing of chicken waste and other wastes in public and market areas. We cannot think that state government alone handle the stray dog issues.
