Mowgli’ girl, 8, raised by monkeys in India can’t talk like a human,
walks on all fours and screeched at rescuers like an ape – and no-one knows how
long she’s been missing
A group of lumberjacks working in a remote area of India made a
discovery right out of a storybook when they rescued an 8-year-old girl who had
been raised by a troop of monkeys.The child was found walking on all fours and
screeching at humans like a simian when government officials, alerted by the
woodsmen, found her two months ago in the Bahraich region near the Nepal
border.The girl was nearly naked, unable to talk like a human, and had wounds
on her elbows and legs — but she appeared to be living “comfortably” with the
animals, according to authorities.“She was terrified of us. She could not speak
or hear properly. She was surrounded by three monkeys,” Inspector Ram Avtar
told Cover Asia Press.
“She looked weak and was very hungry. We gave her some food to
eat. She looked miserable. If we hadn’t rescued her, she could have been eaten
by other animals.Rescuers soon dubbed the child “Mowgli girl,” after the boy in
Rudyard Kipling’s “The Jungle Book” who had been raised by wolves.The girl
appeared to have been abandoned in the wilderness by her parents, Avtar
said.When she was brought back to civilization and taken to a hospital, she had
trouble adjusting, he added. She acted with feral violence and even ate her
food off the floor.വാനരന്മാര്‍ വളര്‍ത്തിയ പെണ്‍കുട്ടിയെ ഉത്തര്‍പ്രദേശിലെ വനത്തില്‍ നിന്നും കണ്ടെത്തി. കാഴ്ചയില്‍ എട്ടുവയസ്സ് തോന്നിക്കും. ഉത്തര്‍പ്രദേശിലെ കട്ടാര്‍നിയാഗട്ട് വന്യജീവി സങ്കേതത്തില്‍ നിന്നാണ് പെണ്‍കുട്ടിയെ കണ്ടെത്തിയത്. ആശുപത്രിയില്‍ പ്രവേശിപ്പിച്ച പെണ്‍കുട്ടി കുരങ്ങന്മാരുടെതിന് സമാനമായ അംഗചലനങ്ങളാണ് നടത്തിയിരുന്നത്. മനുഷ്യരോട് ഇടപഴകുന്നതും ഭയപ്പാടോടു കൂടിയാണ്. രണ്ട് മാസങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് മുമ്പാണ് വിറകെടുക്കാന്‍ വനത്തില്‍ പോയ ഗ്രാമീണര്‍ വാനരക്കൂട്ടങ്ങള്‍ക്കൊര്‍പ്പം പെണ്‍കുട്ടിയെ കണ്ടെത്തുന്നത്. വസ്ത്രമൊന്നും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല. അന്ന് പെണ്‍കുട്ടിയെ രക്ഷപ്പെടുത്താന്‍ ഗ്രാമീണര്‍ ശ്രമം നടത്തിയെങ്കിലും കുരങ്ങന്മാര്‍ അവരെ ആക്രമിച്ചോടിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.
തിരിച്ചെത്തിയ അയാള്‍ വിഷയം മറ്റുള്ളവരെ അറിയിച്ചു. തുടര്‍ന്ന് ഗ്രാമീണര്‍ പലതവണ പെണ്‍കുട്ടിയെ രക്ഷപ്പെടുത്താന്‍ ശ്രമം നടത്തിയെങ്കിലും അവരെയെല്ലാം വാനരക്കൂട്ടം ആക്രമച്ചോടിച്ചു.ഇതോടെ പെണ്‍കുട്ടിയെ സംരക്ഷിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്ന വാനരന്മാരുടെ എണ്ണവും വര്‍ധിച്ചു. തുടര്‍ന്ന് പോലീസ് കാടിനുള്ളിലെത്തിയെങ്കിലും പെണ്‍കുട്ടിയെ കണ്ടെത്താനായില്ല. പിന്നീട് പോലീസിന്റെ പ്രത്യേക സംഘമാണ് പെണ്‍കുട്ടിയെ കാടിനുള്ളില്‍ നിന്നും കണ്ടെത്തിയത്.
