GIRIJA VAIDYANATHAN REPLACES RAMMOHAN RAO AS TN CHIEF SECRETARY AFTER IT RAIDS

The Tamil Nadu state government has dropped P. Ramamohan Rao as the chief secretary, with Girija Vaidyanathan replacing him. Rao’s removal comes a day after the income tax department searched 11 locations linked to him, including his official chamber and residence, besides those of his son Vivek. IT officials had claimed to have recovered Rs 30 lakh in new currency and five kg gold in the raids.According to the Indian Express, Rao has not been suspended, speculation over which continues, but the state government is yet to make an official decision. He remains in service without a posting.

About 100 IT officials, with CRPF contingents providing security and to keep the operation secret, searched Rao’s premises on Wednesday, the Indian Express reported. Following the raids, IT officials claimed Vivek had admitted to having undisclosed income of Rs 5 crore and allegedly had business dealings with sand mining baron Shekar Reddy, according to NDTV.The searches on Rao followed the recent seizure of Rs 135 crore cash and 177 kg of gold from Reddy and his associate Srinivasulu.“Documents seized from Reddy’s premises were the major evidence, as they had details linked to Rao. It was a matter of ascertaining locations before launching the raid,” an IT official told the Indian Express.Opposition parties in Tamil Nadu had been calling for Rao’s removal following the raids. Rao’s appointment in June this year as the state government’s top-most official was controversial as he superseded many senior IAS officers.

ആദായനികുതി വകുപ്പിന്റെ റെയ്ഡിൽ കള്ളപ്പണവും അനധികൃത സ്വർണവും പിടിച്ചതിനെ തുടർന്ന് തമിഴ്നാട് ചീഫ് സെക്രട്ടറി പി.രാമമോഹന റാവുവിനെ മാറ്റി. ഗിരിജാ വൈദ്യനാഥനെ പുതിയ ചീഫ് സെക്രട്ടറിയായി നിയമിച്ചു. ആദായനികുതിവകുപ്പ് റാവുവിന്റെ വീട്ടിലും തമിഴ്നാട് സെക്രട്ടേറിയറ്റിലും നടത്തിയ റെയ്ഡിൽ 30 ലക്ഷം രൂപയുടെ പുതിയ നോട്ടുകളും അഞ്ചുകിലോ സ്വർണവും പിടിച്ചെടുത്തിരുന്നു.

രാമമോഹനറാവുവിന്റെ വസതിയും സെക്രട്ടേറിയറ്റിലെ ഓഫിസും ഉൾപ്പെടെ 13 സ്ഥലങ്ങളിൽ മകന്റെയും ബന്ധുക്കളുടെയും വീടുകളിൽ സിആർപിഎഫ് അകമ്പടിയോടെയായിരുന്നു റെയ്ഡ്. അനധികൃത പണമിടപാടുകളുടെ രേഖകളും കണ്ടെടുത്തിട്ടുണ്ട്.

ചെന്നൈ അണ്ണാനഗർ വെസ്റ്റിലുള്ള രാമമോഹനറാവുവിന്റെ വീട്, തിരുവാൺമിയൂരിലെ മകൻ വിവേകിന്റെ വീട്, മിന്റ്, ആൽവാർപേട്ട്, മണപ്പാക്കം, പൊന്നേരി എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിലെ ബന്ധുവീടുകൾ, ആന്ധ്രാപ്രദേശിലെ ചിറ്റൂരിൽ വിവേകിന്റെ ഭാര്യാപിതാവിന്റെ വീട്, ബെംഗളൂരുവിലെ സ്ഥാപനം തുടങ്ങി 13 സ്ഥലങ്ങളിലാണ് റെയ്ഡ് നടന്നത്. വിവേകിന്റെ വീട്ടിൽനിന്നു 18 ലക്ഷം രൂപയും ബന്ധുവീടുകളിൽനിന്നു 12 ലക്ഷം രൂപയുമാണു പിടിച്ചത്.

അണ്ണാനഗറിലെ വീട്ടിൽ റാവുവിന്റെയും തിരുവാൺമിയൂരിലെ വീട്ടിൽ വിവേകിന്റെയും മൊഴിയെടുത്തു. ശേഖർ റെഡ്ഡിയും വിവേകും തമ്മിൽ 17 കോടിയോളം രൂപയുടെ അനധികൃത പണമിടപാടുകൾ നടത്തിയതിന്റെ രേഖകൾ കണ്ടെടുത്തതായി സൂചനയുണ്ട്. അഞ്ചുകോടിയുടെ അനധികൃത സ്വത്തിനെക്കുറിച്ചു വിവേക് മൊഴി നൽകിയതായും അറിയുന്നു. റെയ്ഡ് വിവരം രഹസ്യമായി സൂക്ഷിക്കാനായി സംസ്ഥാന പൊലീസിനു പകരം അർധസൈനിക വിഭാഗമായ സിആർപിഎഫിന്റെ സഹായമാണ് ആദായനികുതി വകുപ്പു തേടിയത്.

തമിഴ്​നാട്​ ചീഫ്​ സെക്രട്ടറി രമ മോഹന റാവുവിനെ തൽസ്​ഥാനത്ത്​ നിന്ന്​ മാറ്റി. ഗിരിജ വൈദ്യനാഥനാണ്​ പുതിയ ചീഫ്​ സെക്രട്ടറി. വിജിലൻസ്​ കമ്മീഷണറു​ടെയും ഭരണ പരിഷ്​കാര കമീഷണറുടെയും അധിക ചുമതല കൂടി ഗിരിജ വൈദ്യനാഥന്​ ഉണ്ടാകും.ഇന്നലെ രമ മോഹന റാവു​വി​െൻറ വീട്ടിൽ  ആദായ നികുതി വകുപ്പ്​ ഉദ്യോഗസ്​ഥർ നടത്തിയ റെയ്​ഡിൽ കള്ളപ്പണം പിടിച്ചെടുത്തിരുന്നു. ഇതിനെ തുടർന്നാണ്​ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ മാറ്റിയതെന്നാണ്​ സൂചന.കഴിഞ്ഞ ജൂണിലാണ് അൻപത്തെട്ടുകാരനായ റാവു തമിഴ്നാട് ചീഫ് സെക്രട്ടറിയായി ചുമതലയേറ്റത്. 1985 ബാച്ച് ഉദ്യോസ്ഥനാനായ റാവു വിജിലൻസ് കമീഷണർ സ്ഥാനവും ഭരണപരിഷ്കരണ കമീഷണർ സ്ഥാനവും വഹിച്ചിരുന്നു​. ആന്ധ്രാ സ്വദേശിയാണ് ഇദ്ദേഹം
