TIRUMALA PUSHPAYAGAM
Nov3rd, 2011, the annual floral festival, Pushpayagam has been   celebrated in a colourful way in the hill shrine of Tirumala on Thursday. TTD has cancelled arjitha sevas including Tiruppavadai,   Kalyanotsavam,Brahmotsavam, Unjal Seva, Vasanthotsavam on the day of   Pushpayagam on Thursday. Following the birth star of Lord Venkateswara Sravana Nakshatram on   Thursday in the holy month of Karthika, the processional deities of Lord   Malayappa Swamy flanked by his two consorts Sri Devi and Bhu Devi has beenbrought to the Kalyanamandapam in Sampangi prakaram where Snapana Tirumanjanam was performed.
Later the deities were given a celestial floral bath with over seven   tonnes of 18 different varieties of traditonal flowers including Chamanti,   Lilly, Roses,Nandivardanam, Tulsi, Marukam, Davanam etc. As soon as the   flowers touched the chest of the Lord, they were removed and again floral bath was given to the deities amidst the chanting of vedic hymns by pundits. After repeating the process for 20 times the priests offered Nakshatra Harati and Special Harati. Hon’ble minister Sri Kanna Lakshminarayana, TTD board chairman Sri Kanumuri Bapiraju, TTD EO Sri LV Subramanyam, Joint   EO’s Sri KS Srinivasa raju, Sri Venkatrami Reddy, Chittoor MP Sri Sivaprasad, CVSO Sri MK Singh, Chief Engineer Sri   Chandrasekhar Reddy, SE II Sri Ramesh Reddy, Garden Superintendent SriSrinivas and other officials, temple  It is a known fact that every day in Tirumala is a festive day and there is no exaggeration that nearly 450 festivals are being performed to the Lord of Lords in Tirumala hill shrine round the year. Among all rituals the most colourful ritual is Pushpayagam. Usually this ceremony is performed in the month of Karthika after annual Brahmotsavam on the asterism of Sravanam.

After performing two archanas and two naivedyams, the processional deities of Lord Malayappa Swamy flanked by his two consorts Sri Devi and Bhu Devi will be brought to the Kalyanamandapam by 1pm on that day where in homas and Snapana Tirumanjanam is performed.
Later the deities will be given a celestial floral bath with over seven tonnes of 18 different varieties of traditonal flowers including Chamanti, Lilly, Roses, Nandivardanam, Tulsi, Marukam, Davanam etc. As soon as the flowers touch the chest of the Lord, they will be removed and again floral bath will be given to the deities amidst the chanting of vedic hymns by pundits. This process will be repeated for twenty times. And finally the colourful floral ceremony concludes on a grant note with the priests offering special arti to the deities by 5pm.
The traditional Pushpa Yagam for Lord Sri Venkateswara was performed with religious fervor and vedic chanting in the presence of thousands of devotes at Tirumala . Nearly 7 metric tons, comprising 18 varieties of scented flowers including Sampangi,Chrysanthemum,Rose,Lilly,Tulasi Jaji,Lotus,Kaluva,Manoranjitham and Bilvam were used for the ritual. The Pushpa Yagam is performed in the month of Karthika after annual Brahmotsavam on the asterism of Srvanam. After performing two Archanas and twoNaiveedyams,the processional deities of Lord Malayappa Swami flanked by his two consorts Sri Devi and Bhu Devi were brought to the Kalyananamandapam.Later the pundits performed homa and Snapana Tirumanjanam. The dities were then given a celestial floral bath
