WATER CONSERVATION

WATER CONSERVATION

A village head man from Hariyana visiting kerala had this to say” I don't know what to say about water scarcity in Kerala. If we have half the water that is naturally available, we won't be having any water scarcity problems.''
In kerala, the land blessed with so many rivers, how ever is going dry and no one knows why water available, it is important that the earth is recharged. Rain water harvesting is mandatory, Ground water needs to be recharged. Builders are now making provisions for it.
Un like earlier, some of the open area around apartments and villas is left unpaved and un-toled now so that rain water can percolate in to the soil. Every house owner should join the effort. Allowing wter to percolate in to the earth is the only way to ensure water in wells and bore wells.
Since more and more people now opt for piped water pumped by the Kerala water Authority, they become blind to future considerations and do nothing to recharge local water sources.
There are quite a number of ways to recycle water and use it. But people need to know the best technology available for introducing these methods. Water conservation methods should be adopted in existing buildings too. Residents association can play a very important role in this. Innovations in plumbibng has, perhaps, revolutionized water conservation.
There are many ways that an individual can go about conserving water. It starts from the selection of plumbing fixtures for the house. Selecting low-flow fixtures will help the user reduce the use of water tremendously. Use of water closets with dual flushing options is another. For cleaning cars, one can use high-pressure cleaning jets that will lower water consumption . While the equipments costs more, cleaning takes less time and less water.
Water pressure in high story buildings should be minimum and should conform to the plumbing design. One needs to check that there are no leaks for better and efficient water distribution in flats. Installing plumbing devices is as important as choosing them and with regular maintenance, one can develop a more or less reasonable water conservation level in flats.
Lack of government initiatives and unscientific infrastructure development activities have led to acute drinking water scarcity in many villages in Kerala especially in upper Kuttnad. Well water in these villages is polluted and the residents depend on the drinking water supply by the Kerala water Authority. How ever, water supply in many parts of kerala is regulated to twice a week. Water still remains a priced commodity for people.
Those residing in various settlement colonies and in small houses built on the bunds surrounding the paddy fields use the water collected from the polluted canals for the domestic needs, leaving them vulnerable to epidemic threats. Some even dig pits in paddy fields to collect water.

MAOIST REBELS KILLED 74 MEMBERS OF CENTRAL RESERVE POLICE FORCE(CRPF) AND 2 POLICE MEN

MAOIST REBELS KILLED 74 MEMBERS OF CENTRAL RESERVE POLICE FORCE(CRPF) AND 2 POLICE MEN

Maoist rebels killed 74 members of the Central Reserve police Force (CRPF) and 2 police men from the Chhatthisgarh police and destroyed an Armoured personnel Carrier (APC) in the early hours of Tuesday 6th April, 2010.Thr attack took place in the mukrana forest, about 540 km south-east of the state Capital Raipur seven injured personnel were evacuated by helicopter to the Maharani Hospital in Jagdalpur.
Prime Minister Manmohan singh on Tuesday expressed “ shock and grief” over the loss of lives of security personnel in the maoist attack in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh. Mr Chidambaran said some thing must have gone' drastically' wrong in the CRPF-police joint operation. The initial reports suggest that the Naxals used pressure bombs..
Maoist violence has become the biggest threat to India today. The urgent need of the hour is to send out the strong message that violence is no solution to any problem. Chhattisgarh is a terrible blow to the authority of the Indian state and the morale of those fighting the naxals. It underlines the need for more co ordinated and effective action against the naxals who appear to have added significantly to their numbers and weaponry besides building the capability together accurate intelligence about the movement of the security forces.
That 74 security personnel became sacrificial goats because of poor planning in Dantewada is deplorable. The Union Home Minister cannot escape responsibility by expressing shock and saying . Some thing must have drastically gone wrong in the CRPF-police joint operation. The Common men also knows that something must have gone wrong. A well planned, all out offensive deploying the Army and Air Force if necessary, should be evolved to find a lasting solution to the menace.
The Maoist dream of achieving their political and social goals through violence is bizarre. India's democratic history is replete with examples of issues fought and goals achieved through peaceful means. Maoist have become addicted to violence. All efforts of bringing them to the mainstream have failed. It is time the government decided to deal with them an iron fist.
The maoist attack exposed the governments weakness. It is indeed time strict action was taken against the insurgents who challenge the sovereignty of he state every other day. Maoists show no mercy, why should the government be lenient towards them? The government should take hard steps rather than invite them for talks.
The massacre of the 74 CRPF personnel in a maoist ambush in dantewada on Tuesday points to the lack of training and infrastructure of our government and police force. The government should now act strong to restore the all-time low morale of the armed forces and send a strong message to the Maoists that any threat to the integrity of the country would be dealt with strongly.
The present scenario in our country is seriously alarming. We are surrounded by inimical forces on all sides.Internal security is threatened by terrorism and Maoists. Even-rising prices and corruption are striking at the very root of our system.
The CRPF personnel died for our country. The maoist attack is highly condemnable. Maoism has spread more in the states in which the administration has failed to uplift the poor. The poor take to extremism when they fail to get a means to earn their livelihood.
The government should have a broader regions. A disciplined corruption free execution of development programmes will bring the Maoists in to the main stream, corruption+ bad politics+ poor governance has led to the growth of maoism. The government is determined to solve the issue by force or through dialogue. can a bullet for a bullet lead us any where? Naxalites are our own countrymen.

WATER-WATER

WATER-WATER

The united nations reminded all countries in March 22, World Water Day, that humanity continues to impose a staggering burden on rivers, lakes and deltas each year in the form of pollution. Pollutants dumped in key water sources annually are estimated to weigh as much as the global population- close to seven billion people. The disturbing truth should encourage everyone starting with national governments to do more to protect the broth of life. The first step is to plug the sources of the million of tonnes of sewage and industrial and agricultural waste that are pumped perennially in to water ways and other fresh water reserves.
India's response to pollution has been atrociously slow. In 2008, the country had the capacity to treat only about 18 percent of the sewage produced in cities and towns, The est of the sewage flows in to water ways and lakes, contaminating ground water and spreading diseases. A vast volume of untreated sewage was flowing in to the Yamuna every day. The problem is linked to the national issue of insufficient housing sanitation, and sewerage. The most in famous example of India's failed attempts at river cleansing is that of the Ganga, which has over the millennia been revered as a holy river. It is listed by the Un as severely polluted, with its basin reserving billions of liters of waste water every year. When will rising India realize it must go all out to ensure clean water for its people.

STDENTS DEVELOP- A BATTERY POWERED

STDENTS DEVELOP- A BATTERY POWERED
VEHICLE FOR PERSONAL MOBILITY

A team of Mechanical engineering students of the P.A Aziz College of Engineering and Technology has developed a battery-powered three wheeler vehicle for personal mobility with in campuses and industries.
The Compact and portable vehicle can transport a single person in standing position. It is designed to take the user from one portion of a building to another or to shuttle between building with in a Campus. The user stands on a small plywood platform and there is a handle that can be used for maneuvering.
The personal transporter works on a direct current motor with in the front hub that is powered by a rechargeable battery. The students claim that the maintenance free value Regulated Lead Acid (URLA) battery would enable the vehicle to run about 80 km on a full charge.
'The prototype can attain a speed of about 20 km per hour” the front wheel drive enables the transporter to be reversed by turning the front wheel 180 degrees. A drum brake at the front brings it to a halt.
Both the accelerator and the brake lever are mounted on the same handle. The team feels that their prototype is low-cost technology alternative to the segway. Ther personal transporter is that it is easy for people of any age to operate. It is also 100 percent pollution free.(Team members:Final year students Szherooqh Manzoor, V.G Vishnu, R Sunil and S. 2010 APRIL-1- EDUCATION BECOMES

2010 APRIL-1- EDUCATION BECOMES
A FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT

On Thursday- April 1-2010- India will join a group of few countries in the world, with a historic law making education a fundamental right of every child coming in to force. Making elementary education an entitlement for
Children in the 6-14 age group. The right of children to free and compulsory Education Act,2009 will directly benefit close to one crore children who do not go to school at present.

LIVE IN RELATIONSHIP

LIVE IN RELATIONSHIP

The supreme courts observation that live in relationships and premarital sex are not an offense- is opposed to our ethos and moral values. What even the progress made by society value remain the same- while freedom should not be curbed. We should remember that we have a responsibility towards self and society. The court reportedly referred to Radha and Krishna while making an observation on live in relationships. Many stories in the Ramayana and the Mahabharata have philosophical and symbolic meanings, besides popular appeal. It would be naive to interpret them in modern legal and constitutional terms. Such observations could hurt the sentiments of many believers.
If living together can be justified on the basis of the puranes .Laws can be enacted by any government which has a two thirds majority in parliament. But custom is different. It has evolved over the years.
An act cannot be termed illegal is not necessarily legal. The judges should ask for the details of the newborn abandoned in hospitals and orphanages, most of whom are the products of pre- marital sex. Persons indulging in pre-marital sex may not be committing an offense but of it who bear the consequences for no fault of theirs. The comment on Lord Krishna and Radha were unnecessary.
The judges can only tell us what the law is. While every one has a right to his or her views on morality, no one has the right to impose them on others. Marriage, an institution that has evolved over the years, has its merits and demerits. If two adults decide to live together with out marriage,it would be cruel for a third person to interfere with freedom
The court cited Radha and Krishna to substantiate its observation. Krishna never had a live in relationship with Radha. There is no such mention in Srimad Bhagavatham or Vishnu Purana. Radha was a devotee of Krishna who spent his child hood in Brindvan. He left Brindavan when he was 16 to settle down in Dwaraka. He married Rukmini and Satyabhama and never returned to Brindavan.

CONVOCATION DRESS

CONVOCATION DRESS

The Union Environment and Forests minister Jairam Ramesh who took off his grown during the convocation at the Indian Institute of Forest Management saying it was a colonial relic. If we have to discard every thing that is 'colonial' what about English Language, Parliamentary democracy, the postal system, the Railways. Convocation is a much-cherished occasion in everyone's life. Why should students wear simple casual dresses? Convocation are held only for a couple of hours in a reasonably cool and comfortable place.
The objective behind donning gowns at university convocation is to add dignity, solemnity and sanctity to the august occasion. The word convocation' a Latin word which means' calling together' refers to a group of people assembled for a special purpose with out a special dress it would look like any other ordinary function. A convocation is a proud and solemn occasion in the academic life of a student . There is nothing wrong if it is conducted in a ceremonial style.
We should concern about our basic climate and weather conditions. The judges and lawyers use colonial dress. it is the symbol of dignity and power. The pathetic condition is the state of salesmen and marketing executives who walk around in hot humid conditions in full-sleeve shirts and neck ties. It makes sense to wear a suit and neck tie in winter.
The wearing gowns are more suitable for the climate conditions prevalent in the west. It is very un comfortable and in appropriate in our country.

MAUNDY THURSDAY-2010

MAUNDY THURSDAY-2010
AND GOOD FRIDAY

Ms ANJU GUPTA—A BRAVE POLICE OFFICER

Ms Anju Gupta has proved that ,she is a brave police officer. She revealed the truths that no BJP leaders including Mr Advani did any thing to stop the demolition of the Babri Masjid. L.K Advani's personal security officer Anju Gupta revealed all truths about the demolition of the Babri Masjid. Advani also made fiery speeches which provoked the Karsevks is indeed shameful. Ms Gupta deserves praise for coming forward to tell the nation the truth. Many other senior government officers at the time have chosen to remain silent. She was present on the dais with the top leaders of the BJP and the rest of the Sangh Parivar on December6, 1992. No doubt that demolition was well-planned- because the Sangh Parivar leaders distributed sweets. It shows their well plan and conspiracy
